What we treasure in our hearts is what we love…
What is our deepest longing?
What do we really treasure?
Do we treasure or love our lives?
Or do we treasure and love our relationship with the Lord – which is Eternal?
Any other thing which we treasure or love is unsatisfying to us and so falls below or short of the glory of God – the glory which God wanted us to enjoy in His Presence…
We are so far short of the glory of God because we have placed our own happiness – the pursuit of our own happiness – above the pursuit of the happiness of others…
He has given it to us to serve others…
This is what He does…
And when we place our own happiness above the happiness of others we fall into selfishness…
When we receive what He freely gives we enjoy His free gifts…
Every good and perfect gift is from above and is freely given to us by God – not on the basis of our performance but on the basis of His Grace…
When we treat others in this manner we reflect the glory of God and do not fall short of it…
We shine with His Glory for this is what He is – Other centred…
When we are freely given things by God we do not make them idols in our hearts because we know they have been freely given by God and can be taken away by God just as easily when they are no longer beneficial to us – this is what it means to be in God’s will – to be surrendered to Him choosing our pleasure and our pain and to trust Him for either – even if we don’t understand it – don’t understand why it is happening to us – and to be unflinching in the treatment we get from our fellowman knowing that it has been allowed by our God to shape us the way He wants us to be shaped – remembering eternity…
That we will be with Him and continue to get to know Him forever…
There is no shortage of time in this relationship…
It helps you to relax knowing that, doesn’t it?
It does me…
Love you all,
Andrew
