I want to repent on behalf of the European settlers and on behalf of Queen Victoria and all who represented her for the travesty which we committed against the Maori people of this nation when this word – Rangatiratanga – was changed by the European translators of the Treaty of Waitangi from the Maori version of the Treaty – which the Maori Elders read, understood and signed – to the English version (where the meaning of the word was reversed) – which was trustingly (without understanding ‘the switch’) signed by the Maori Chiefs and Leaders – giving sovereignty of this land (by stealth and deceit) to the Crown…

My mother was born in England…
I am of English & Scottish descent through my father…
My father was born in New Zealand…
I was born in New Zealand…
My wife is of Cook Island descent through her mother and father…
She was born in Rarotonga…
The Maori word Rangatiratanga means,
sovereignty, chieftainship, right to exercise authority, chiefly autonomy, self-determination, self-management, ownership, leadership of a social group, domain of the rangatira, noble birth.

This is what the Maori Elders and Chiefs wanted to retain when they signed the Treaty of Waitangi…
They were saying to the Crown in essence,
“Yes, you can come and live in this land, yes, you can come and share this land with us, but we retain ownership of this land – you can live here, we will let you co-exist with us in this land but we will retain ownership of – sovereignty over – it”…
This meaning was reversed in the English version…
When the same Treaty means two completely different things in two languages signed by both parties which version should take precedence?
The version understood by both parties…
There were English representatives there who knew what the Treaty meant in Maori and also knew what the Treaty meant in English and there were also English representatives there who knew that these two meanings were not the same and that the English version was deceptive and discriminating against the Maori Elders and Leaders who (unwittingly) signed this – the English version – trusting the white man to be dealing fairly with them…
What have they (the Maori people) reaped for falling into this deception (not that it was their fault)?
They have reaped a loss of mana (their mana is linked to their land)…
A stripping of the authority which they were meant to carry for this land (which was given to them by God – by God Himself)…
What have we – the white man – reaped from this deception?
We have been under a curse (because of our deception, because of our greed and because of our rebellion against God – lying in His Name)…
We have been under a curse of poverty (God has not honoured us for breaking the Treaty – the Maori version of the Treaty – which we made with our Maori brothers and sisters and He will not honour us until we do)…
The reason that this nation is in debt and has struggled with poverty is because of the sin which we – the white man – committed against our Maori brothers and sisters that day when we deceitfully – like Jacob of old – stole their birthright from them…
I am not proud to be writing this post…
I am guilty, I stand guilty…
I am sorry…
To all my Maori brothers and sisters in this nation I say, I am sorry…
I do not want to own your land…
It is your land…
It is not mine…
It is not ours…
It is yours…
I am sorry for robbing you of your land…
Please forgive me and please forgive us – the white man (and white women)…
I am sorry for betraying your trust…
I am sorry for not looking after and recognising your interests…
I am sorry for robbing you of your land…
For God to move in this nation this issue must be settled…
I was asking the Lord this lunchhour what the curse was over this land and this is what He reminded me of…
I have known this for a number of years…
I was talking to a Maori brother on Sunday afternoon as I drove back from a prayer gathering and this came out of my mouth that this needed to happen but it didn’t happen in that car ride…
I feel to post this as my part in this process…
I’m sure there’ll be (and has already been) a lot of repentance on this…
There will be major redistributions of wealth resulting from this…
I am ready for this…
There will not be Revival in this land until this issue is resolved…
The Church must be given back to its Maori Leaders…
We – the European believers – in this nation need to acknowledge our Maori brothers and sisters in the Lord – just as in the natural we need to acknowledge the Maori Elders and Chiefs…
We need to give the Church back to its Maori Leaders…
That is not to say that the Lord can’t use European leaders but we need to get permission to exist – to co-habit – in this land even in the Church world or Church sense…
I really believe this…
A humbling of ourselves under true biblical authority…
And I believe that the people of the land (Tangata Whenua) who know the Lord are the ones who we need to “line up under” to get their blessing for everything we seek to do for the Lord in this nation…

I have no idea what this means practically (to myself) but I’m sure the Lord will show me…
So to my Maori brothers and sisters I say,
“Sorry and for my part I will not steal your land any more or take anything which rightfully belongs to you, I am sorry”…
To my Maori brothers and sisters in the Lord I say,
“Sorry and for my part I will not steal your part in the plan of God for your destiny in this nation, I will “line up under” you in the sense of getting your blessing for what I am seeking to undertake for the Lord in this nation – in fact in this post I ask for your blessing for what I am seeking to undertake for the Lord in this nation – will you please give me your blessing for this? – in Jesus Name I pray that we would all be one in this nation and that you – the Tangata Whenua – would be given the mana which you deserve – under God – in your own nation – He established our boundaries – and He brought you here – He also brought us – the white man (and all other cultures) here but we should not have stolen your land and your mana – your authority – from you – I am sorry, will you please forgive me, Love in the Lord, Andrew”…
May we work together in this nation – all fulfilling our part – in our place – in the place which God (our Lord Jesus Christ) has planned for us towards this end – that this nation would display His (the Father’s) glory and be filled with His Holy Spirit – that the Holy Spirit of the Living God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) would permeate this land until all know that He is Lord to the Glory of God the Father, in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord and in the Power of the Holy Spirit of the Living God, To God be the Glory, in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord, our Saviour, our Redeemer and our Soon and Coming King, To God be Glory in all things in the Church and in this nation along with all other nations throughout the entire world, in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, in Jesus Name, Amen…
