I had a revelation on this while I was on one of my shorter mid-week runs this week…

I post this to help those who are faced with the choice of marriage, i.e. know that the Lord has revealed to them that this is His will for their lives and aren’t sure exactly how this is going to work…

I don’t know much at all about horse racing but one thing I have heard of (although I don’t know what it means), is the trifecta…

The trifecta of marriage is spirit, soul & body…

Stay with me…

The Lord is capable, should this be His will for your life, to give you someone as your marriage partner (your wife or husband) who hits the trifecta of spirit, soul & body…

He can give you someone who you are one spirit with, in the Lord, but also one spirit with in terms of your calling and your purpose for being alive in this world…

This is very powerful and gives the two of you, as one, a very powerful unity and motivation in your call in the Lord – a unity which will reap much fruit for the Kingdom of God…

Next, in the same person, He can give you someone with whom you are one soul, just as David’s soul was knit with Jonathan’s soul, He can give you someone, in marriage, whose soul is knit to yours so that you function as one person…

Completely independent, but in Him completely united, without any effort needing to be expended by either of you to make this a reality…

To be one soul means that your personalities – given to you by the Lord in your new heart – also compliment each other, that your academic abilities and rational abilities also complement each other, that you can laugh at each other’s jokes, that you ‘get’ each other, that your temperaments compliment each other, that you enjoy each others’ company on an intellectual and emotional level, that you can share with and empathize with each other and that on a motivational level you both have the same drive and get out and do things as the Lord leads you…

The third factor in the trifecta giving you the confirmation, as every fact must be confirmed by two or three witnesses, is a oneness of body…

What does this mean?

What it means is that when you look at that other person, you subconsciously recognize what you’ve been looking for all your life…

There is nothing about them, their physical appearance, that you would want to change or wish that they would change, you are completely content, without any regret, with what they look like and you feel their ‘imprint’ on you so to speak sealing your knowledge that they were made for you and that you were made for them – very much like a key fitting into a lock is that moment – that mental and felt recognition that you have just been completed, a knowing, a knowledge, both deep and powerful…

When you experience this oneness of spirit, soul & body – when this understanding dawns on you – the peace of God will come and you will know that this is the person – at this point of your life – who the Lord is bringing to partner with you in the journey of life…

The Lord has a will for each of our lives and this involves singleness at various points in our lives and marriage – if this is His will – and whatever He has for us is what we need to come to know Him more…

For this is what life is all about, knowing Him more…

If He gives you the gift of marriage, know that He will confirm this via the trifecta of marriage as per the above…

He is a good God and no good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly…

What do I mean by walking uprightly?

What I mean is to let go and to trust Him to bring this to pass for you – to accept your singleness or your marriedness as His will for you and to love Him through it and to praise Him for whatever gift He gives you and not to try and help Him to give you any particular gift but just to accept the gift – whatever it is at various points in your life – from His Hand and be grateful that He is looking out for you and for whoever it is that He is bringing in to your life – whether that is a marriage partner or people who need to come to know Him or both…

Love you Lord, You are a good God and You know what we need…

Thank You that You love us so much that You desire us to enjoy intimacy with You and others who You have prepared for us to walk with on this journey through life…
