When it’s all said and done…

When it’s all said and done, what is life?

What do we remember from life?

What is it worth?

Solomon was given the most wisdom of any man – other than the Lord Jesus – while he was on earth and he documented the futility of life lived without the Lord – but having His wisdom – in the book of Ecclesiastes…

The Lord showed me this – the wisdom of Solomon – through my wife recently reading this book – Ecclesiastes – and her comments on it…

Futility…

Nothing new under the sun…

Pack your life full of every possible pleasure – this is what Solomon had at his disposal – Solomon’s life has given all of us since his time the insight that nothing satisfies apart from the Lord – none of us have to re-live his life to learn this again – but of course this is what I’ve done – had to learn things for myself and not wanting to be told things by others – why?

It’s suddenly dawned on me that when it’s all said and done only the love we show to others lasts…

Only the giving which we do for others – at the Lord’s initiation – lasts…

Only selflessness – allowing the Lord to live through us – lasts…

Nothing else does…

Pride doesn’t…

Envy doesn’t…

Covetousness doesn’t…

Feeling sorry for ourselves doesn’t…

Regret doesn’t…

Missed opportunities don’t…

Things we wished we’d done but haven’t don’t satisfy (remembering them over and over again doesn’t either)…

Only those free ‘nothing in it for ourselves’ situations where the Lord gives through us and our left hand doesn’t know what our right hand is doing, i.e. not calculated, not a sacrifice but a ‘God loves a cheerful giver’ moment type thing – these are the only things which last…

These are the only things which don’t leave our stomach in knots – things where we’re not in control…

He is free…

And we are free in Him…

When it’s all said in done what He does through us in freedom – with nothing in it for us – is precious as this shows us that we are His sons and daughters – only He can do these things and when we see them completed through us it fulfills us and shows us His Character – His Likeness – His Glory…

Love You Jesus…

About andrew james horton

Hi, my name is Andrew James Horton... I am a Kiwi (New Zealander), born in Christchurch (05 September 1971), now in my early fifties... I am blessed to be married with five children and six grandchildren... :-) I am at present a Principal Structural Engineer, Director living in Christchurch, New Zealand... I am passionate about prophetic intercession and about revival both in New Zealand and throughout the world... I am passionate to pray that the Church, the Body of Christ, the Bride of Christ, will be all that He - the Lord Jesus Christ - desires her to be in our generation... Back in early September 2010 I felt that the Lord gave me the name of this blog site, "a house of prayer for the nations - prophetic intercession for worldwide revival" and wanted me to "put it out there" and start recording the prayers which were on my heart to pray in the hope that others would also be encouraged to share the prayers which were on their hearts to pray and that in the unity of the Spirit we could participate together in this activity in different locations around the world as He led us... If the Lord leads you, let's join together in prayer for the Lord's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven in our generation... Love to All, Andrew
