Your vows are binding upon me, O God; I will render thank offerings to You. (Psalm 56:12 NASB)
I have had a few experiences in prayer – I will never forget them – where from deep within my being I have promised God in the Holy Spirit that I will do certain things…
I haven’t “made these things up” – they have come from deep – right in the core of my being – and as I “speak them out” I know that I am promising these things in the Holy Spirit – I am speaking in the Holy Spirit – speaking out in the Holy Spirit and promising the Lord that I will do these certain things…
These experiences are burnt or etched into the very fabric of who I am – what I am – and what I live for…
I can’t escape them…
The Lord told me to read Psalm 56 this lunch hour and I “trip across” this verse (verse 12)…
For You have delivered my soul from death, Indeed my feet from stumbling, So that I may walk before God In the light of the living. (Psalm 56:13 NASB)
And this verse (verse 13) is indeed how I feel – it’s like He has this unshakeable purpose for me which I cannot escape – which I will walk in – and when I get near to “slipping away” or “getting off track” He “brings me back” because His vows – the things that He has promised through me to Himself in the Holy Spirit – because of these things – He brings me back and fulfils them – He is so good…
I do not make vows to God – like Jesus said, “make no oath at all” – but I have had these experiences of promising God things in the Holy Spirit and when they happen they are so free – there is no effort in me – no striving – no thinking, “Oh dear, how on earth could I ever do that?” – no, the Anointing is there and an unshakeable faith – a knowing – is there that I will do those things – but not I but Christ within me…
I guess I was just available – just willing – just waiting…
But He was the One who made me available, willing and waiting…
When we’re in that place – He is free to move – and move He does…
The things I’ve promised Him are big things – things which I could never accomplish in a million lifetimes – but He will do them through me and He will do them through His entire Church – for what I see I see being a group activity – not an individual activity – the power of our performance will be in the whole not the sum of the individual parts – although the individual parts are important…
Promising in the Holy Spirit – I encourage you to surrender to the Lord for Him – the Holy Spirit – to speak through you from the depth of your being and promise the Lord – the Father or Jesus – I don’t know which I promised what I promised to but I sense it was the Father – I’m pretty sure it was – that I would do “such and such” and see “such and such” before I leave planet earth…
And the cool thing is because He promised it through me I don’t have to do anything to make it happen – I can just watch Him making it happen – and this makes me very happy…
Thank You Lord… 🙂
To You be the Glory forever and ever, Amen…
